We know the drill, your weekdays are spent doing crazy hours on pitches, with the constant taste of Nasi Goreng in your mouth, juggling crappy deadlines and client entertaining. And if you’re not putting in a few hours over the weekend you want to be enjoying smashed avo from Concrete Playground’s top 10 list.
We get it and know exactly what you’re going through, before starting Milk Chocolate my business partner, Richie Ragel and I (Michael Cleary) spent many years working in the advertising industry, but more on that below.
What we do:
We purchase residential and commercial property on behalf of our clients and Project Manage structural or cosmetic renovations on the properties we present. Knowing how time poor and stressed people from the ad industry are, we literally take care of the entire process from brief to settlement. We offer a Moving Concierge service if you are moving into a new home or work with the managing agent to secure a tenant if it’s an investment property.
Milk Chocolate was started seven years ago, whilst Richie and I worked at Host Sydney. We have a passion for real estate, design, and construction and started buying, renovating and selling residential and commercial property in Australia. As the business grew more people started asking us for advice on the property market and a couple of years back we started to work not just for ourselves but also for clients. And the name, it’s a little different, but so is our business - in the real estate industry average is acceptable and everything we do is to make sure we are exceptional, starting with our name.
How we dot it:
We provide our clients with a website specifically built to give all the information they need to make an informed purchasing decision. We use our advertising experience to directly target properties that aren’t yet on the market, opening up off-market opportunities.
We present information back to our clients in a designed and simple manner, to make the information easy to understand and relevant.
Over our years of buying, renovating and selling property we have developed a robust purchasing methodology and key indicators to ensure we are purchasing in the right areas. Using key macro and micro data derived from our Data Scientist, we ensure a correct science is involved in all of our purchases. We have teams of professional services on the ground in each capital city to ensure we can act quickly, providing our clients with the greatest opportunity to secure properties at the right price in growth areas and post the purchase we work with our clients to grow their property portfolios.
Although we are not from traditional real estate backgrounds, we have been entrenched in the real estate world for over 10 years, spending weekend after weekend attending open homes, auctions, purchasing, renovating and selling. We have travelled the length and breadth of Australia, and continue to do so, looking at different capital cities and regional markets. In doing so, we have a deep and diverse knowledge of the Australian property market.
We love getting our hands dirty and project managing structural and/or cosmetic renovations on properties we recommend to our clients. Having over 30 years of combined project management experience between the both of us, we are well versed in managing projects of any shape or size.
Before Milk Chocolate
Whilst buying, renovating and selling property for our personal portfolios, Richie and I started our careers in the Australian advertising industry. For 18 years I worked in Creative Services starting as a Production Co-Ordinator and leaving the industry as an Operations Director for the likes of Whybin TBWA, Detroit (Vancouver, Canada), Host Sydney and M&C Saatchi and Richie was a Snr producer at Host Sydney. In the past six years, we have also owned other businesses in conjunction with Milk Chocolate, I was an owner of Task, a Creative Services Agency that produced work for leading brands such as Renault, eHarmony, Weight Watchers and Ancestry to name a few, Task was successfully sold in May 2015. Working in advertising has taught us to make miracles happen on budget and on time.
