We’ve purchased a lot in regional Australia over the course of running Milk Chocolate – particularly in the last few years as more and more people flock to country cities and towns. Regional Victoria has been especially popular – particularly in this burgeoning satellite city and one of the fastest-growing regional locations in the state. Residents love it because it’s within a reasonable distance from the Melbourne CBD that’s very easily commutable.

Recently, we settled on a four-bedroom weatherboard dwelling that typifies the beautiful character homes found across the city. Boasting lots of original charm – decorative cornices, stained glass windows, lofty ceilings – and a few more contemporary updates, we knew we were on to a winner when we came across this home. It ticked every box as far as Milk Chocolate properties go, sat on an above average-sized block, offered the opportunity for subdivision and was located in a tightly held suburb.

It also had a lot of renovation potential. Given this property was intended as an investment, fortunately our client was very much on board with undertaking a significant overhaul. We’re set to spearhead both a structural and cosmetic renovation on the house to draw prospective renters and maximise its rental yield.

Something that really excited us about this purchase, though, was how it not only combined our purchasing and construction verticals, but also encompassed the hard work of our data and analytics team. The purchase was one that was heavily informed by the huge volumes of data we rely on to support and inform our buying decisions. Using this information, we found a location and property that delivered on every one of our and our client’s goals.

To us, it’s the perfect example of our traditional and future-focused business pillars coming together and producing a very successful result.
